Fort Augustus
Fort Augustus is a small village on the Shores of Loch Ness lying between Inverness and Fort William. Our list comes to around 1350 patients but in the summer months our numbers are increased with tourists coming to see or try to catch the Loch Ness Monster!
It is a 2 doctor practice and we do our own dispensing. The variety and scope of our workload is quite different to those in less remote practices. Nearest hospitals are 35 miles away Inverness in the north (Raigmore) and Fort William in the south (The Belford). With this distance from hospital there is a high commitment to pre-hospital care
Clinics
Preventive medicine is very high on our agenda. We run Well Woman Clinics, Baby Clinics, Asthma and Diabetic Clinics monthly. Physiotherapy and Chiropody Clinics are held weekly and CPN clinics every fortnight.
Doctors:
Dr Iain D Farmer
Dr Jill E Skeoch
Consultations are held twice daily (morning and afternoon) on an alternative basis leaving the other Doctor to deal with home visits, telephone enquires etc. This ensures that a doctor is available for urgent call outs. Both doctors have mobiles so contact can be made at any time. Both doctors hold a Diploma in Immediate Care. Dr Skeoch also practices Homeopathy.
