OPENING HOURS 9.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday 9.00am to 12 noon Saturday As this is a single-handed practice the doctor may be out on house calls, so it is advisable to telephone if coming to the surgery outside actual consultation times. Repeat Prescriptions Please give at least 3 days notice for repeat prescriptions in case your medication is out of stock and has to be ordered from our suppliers in Aberdeen. With each repeat prescription you should receive a list of your medications on a small sheet and you can order repeat prescriptions by ticking the boxes of the medications required and handing this in to the surgery. Please let us know how you wish to collect your prescription, either from the shop or by post or from the prescription box outside the surgery door. It is better to telephone for prescriptions outside consultation hours ie after 10 am as the doctor may be busy with patients. Urgent Appointments As this practice offers daily drop in Clinics, anyone with an urgent problem can be seen on the same day. If the problem arises after daily consultation is over, please contact the doctor to arrange a suitable time. Out-Of-Hours Dr Taylor and Dr Houston cover the majority of Out-of-Hours care in Lochaline. To allow Study Leave and holidays we do employ Locum GPs occasionally and the doctor on duty can always be contacted by telephoning 01967 421 252. For information about the doctor on duty, a rota is placed in the Village Shop and on the Notice Board in the Waiting Room. Staff are happy to inform patients at any time which doctor is on duty. District Nursing This is provided by a team of nurses working across the Morvern and Ardnamurchan peninsula. Please contact the District Nursing Base on 01967 421673. Midwifery This is provided by a team of community midwifes. Please telephone the midwifery helpline at the Belford Hospital to get the duty midwife 01397 700371. Health Visitor Mrs Ailsa Cant Tel 01397 709860 . Due to lack of clinic space , she will usually arrange appointments in advance and has regular contact with the Nursery School Chiropody Services Provided in the surgery every 4-6 weeks on Thursday mornings. Appointments are arranged from the Royal Northern Infirmary, Inverness. Please ask the Doctor or District Nurse for referral forms. Queries can be directed by telephone to 01463 723250. Community Psychiatric Nurse Visits Lochaline fortnightly on Thursdays. Can be contacted via Fort William Community Clinic 01397 701506 ask for Community Psychiatric Nurses. For referral to CPN contact the GP. Community Mental Health Team Provides support for patients with ongoing mental health problems. Contact number 01397 707060 Fax 01397 705263 Social Work Department Social Workers and Rehabilitation Officers (Occupational Therapists) can be contacted at 01397 707025. Citizens Advice Bureau For help with Benefits Advice. Telephone number 01397 705311. Cross Roads An organisation arranging support for Carers. Can be contacted on 01397 701020. Antenatal & Baby Clinic Now on Wednesdays 2-3 pm. Drop in Clinic although if specific advice from the midwife is required, please make a definite appointment. Well Person Clinics Held by appointment 5-6 pm Wednesdays. Alternative times/days available on request. Patient Rights and Responsibilities Morvern Medical Practice aims to provide a fair and equal service to all patients, without any form of discrimination. Patients who find it difficult to access the surgery will be offered equivalent services within their own home. The practice Primary Care Team hope to provide a reliable, confidential, courteous and helpful service to their patients and would ask that patients are polite and responsible in their use of the services provided. Any patient who is violent or abusive towards any member of staff is liable to be removed from the GPs list and criminal proceedings could follow from any such assault. The practice will always inform any patient in writing if they are to be removed from the doctors list and will always give the reason. In this unlikely occurrence, we will try to arrange for the patient to be seen by a GP in the neighbouring practice. Complaints This practice has its own complaints procedure. Please ask the doctor or practice manager for a complaint form. Emergency Contraception As a dispensing practice, we always have supplies of a morning-after pill. Contact the doctor on duty - 01967 421252 - to arrange an appointment or collect a prescription. Investigations and Results If the doctor has undertaken some blood tests or investigations, they will let you know when these results will be available. You may contact the surgery directly to get these results but in most cases the doctor will telephone or write to you with the results of these tests. In the case of smear tests it usually takes 3-4 weeks for the results to be available and you will always receive a written report of these results. Patients who are unable to attend the surgery will be offered the equivalent tests in their own home either from the GP or from the District Nurse. lochaline@highlandhealth.co.uk |
